BREAD SCULPTURES
Bread has always been used as an element of artistic representation, as it has always been directly linked to the body and the soul as food for both. From Pharaohs culture to classic Greece, bread has been the offer made by men, as food as well as pictorial and sculptural expression.
The first works dedicated to the bread of the artist Lluís Vilā were displayed in the "Fundaciķ Mirķ", in the exhibition "Entre pa enlluīt" (1984), closer to the Medieval period, still effective in Europe nowadays. From that moment, this edible matter has appeared in pictures and sculptures in a persistent way all over his artistic development, from round rolls, "barritas", "baguettes", sliced or round farmhouse loaves, which leave bakeries to be incorporated in his creative world.
